Below describes the types of things you will need essentially so you know exactly what to buy. Luckily if you are starting out there are literally only a couple of items that you really needed to get started on your creative path!

Firstly you will need to take a look at some jewellery making pliers; the round nosed pliers are the best to use when starting out. You do tend to put strain on your hands and wrists if you use these often so make sure to buy something that will be comfortable and is of good quality. Working with small beads and barely there wire can get quite fiddly, so you need to have patience which a good pair of pliers will help you to keep!

Round nosed pliers just like their name suggests are round at the tip, and are perfect for using when you need to bend wire into a shape. Also as they are quite small in size they are great for when you are making earrings or adding charms onto bracelets.

You can also purchase flat nosed pliers which come serrated and non-serrated. These are used for larger objects and to make more prominent bends in thicker wire. If you don’t want to have to buy three different types of pliers there are combination pliers which have a bit of each built in. This is perfect for saving space too. If you become really hooked on the hobby you will be surprised how much space little beads and things can take up! You can get great little storage boxes that will keep various colors and patterns separated just make sure not to drop it if you don’t like your beads mixed up!

Once you have the essential pliers and have got some wire then all that is left to buy are some beads. This is the fun bit with a rainbow of colors and so many designs to choose from. Once you have all of these you are free to create whatever jewellery you want and experiment to make something unique and unusual.
