She Wearing – Annual Trends

Your WhoWhatWearDaily editors are one-half military brat (the Hillary half, not the Katherine half), so it was with great glee we noticed armed-forces-influence on the autumnal runways. Trends like interlocking belts over three-quarter length coats seemed very Teddy Roosevelt while double-breasted detailing on everything from sweaters to shoes made us hum the Village People’s “In the Navy.”

She Wearing – Annual Trends

Designers like Givenchy, seen above, did a luxe take on troopwear, but we wanted to outfit our readers with more budget-friendly gear, so nothing shown here costs more than $250 (hooah!). The above pieces feature some of the hallmarks of soldier style, at least as viewed through our thoroughly civilian eyes, and we think they’re pretty commanding. Read on for the details of our military-inspired picks…

  1. Light Gray Pintucked Blouse
Featuring a pintucked front and three quarter length sleeves, this cotton blouse is neat and ladylike without getting fussy.
  2. Anchors Away Enamel Necklace
We couldn’t resist this sweet design from the lovely Rachel Leigh. The anchor pendant is on a 17.5” long chain and is handmade, so slight variations are possible.
  3. Russian Fur Hat
Fear not, animal lovers, for this furry, Russian-style hat is machine washable! Strangely, it also pairs amazingly well with almost any kind of eyewear, from Gucci glasses to Oakley sunglasses.4. Gray Military Style Coat
We love how the sharp cut of this wool/viscose blend gray coat is feminized with a waist-emphasizing belt.
  4. Black Leather Belt
Sophisticated and simple, this crocodile-embossed, black leather belt has a smart gold buckle.
  5. Military Style Dress
While the four flap-pockets and button-up placket look quite gentlemanly, the narrow shoulder and slightly fitted waist of this gabardine dress keep it girly.
  6. Lace-Up Boot
Frye’s Villager Lace-Up Boot in brown leather is both sturdy and saucy.
  7. Favorite Fit Herringbone University Trouser
A simple variation of button-front sailor pants, these wool trousers are fully lined (no itching!) and have a timeless, classic cut.
  8. Chocolate Leather Gloves
The simple, slip closure buckle at the wrist is classic while the cashmere knit lining is cozy.
