Not only is Brisbane the Capital City of Queensland Australia, but it is also the most populated City. It has a population of over two Million people. Its history dates back 1799, it was initially used as a place where British convicts from Sydney were sent. But due to the number of occupations options available there such as fishing, timbering and farming among other occupations, it had to be opened as a settlement for every one in 1838 and later in the year 1859 became a Municipality.

If you are planning to visit Brisbane City, there are a number of places you can visit guaranteed to give you a memorably experience of this Queensland State. Some of the things you must do when you visit Brisbane are:

Go for a Walk or take a bicycle ride through Southbank Parklands. This is a great place that you can go to when you want to have a great day out. In Southbank, you are guaranteed to find Lush Gardens, Beautiful city beaches and vibrant shopping areas and Brothels. You have the choice of going on a picnic or having a barbeque at any of its numerous picnic and barbeque areas. In a nut shell, Southbank Parklands has something for everyone.

The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is an excellent place to visit for the animal lovers. If you are interested in finding out more about the Australian wildlife then this is a place you to visit. There are lost of interesting things you can do here besides learn about Koalas, The zoo allows visitors to touch the animals and even feed them. In fact, if you are brave enough, you can get to hold a Python too. There are lots of animals you can see here from reptiles, kangaroos, Tasmanian devils and all sorts of Australian birds just to mention a few.

The zoo is open daily from around 8am and closes in the evening at 5pm. getting there is very easy since there are buses running from the City to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary daily.

During your visit to Brisbane, you can also go sight seeing at Roma Street Park. This is Scenic Park found within the City that features beautiful subtropical gardens, great picnic venues and flying kites. The fact that it is right in the Middle of the City makes it easily accessible.

If art is your thing, you cannot afford to leave Brisbane without visiting the Gallery of Modern Art. This is a home of Brisbane’s major exhibits that give visitors an insight into Brisbane history. The gallery houses artefacts that depict the last 200 years of Brisbane City and how it has been affected by the invasion of the whites. There are excellent activities for kids here to, they can get to hangout at the kid’s fun rooms and enjoy movie programs that educate them on the history of Brisbane.

All in all Brisbane is an interesting City that boasts of many activities tourists can enjoy including Kayaking at the Brisbane River among other activities that we cannot exhaust here.
